Pioneering Electrical Safety Since 2013
Founded by engineers who spotted a real gap in EV infrastructure protection, matt:e has grown into the UK's leading specialist in PEN fault protection.
Built to Solve a Real Problem
matt:e was established in 2013 by a team of engineers and electricians who saw that the growing rollout of EV charging infrastructure was exposing a serious gap: how PME (TN-C-S) earthing systems behave when a fault occurs.
Standard MCBs and RCDs, the traditional backbone of electrical protection, cannot detect a broken PEN conductor fault. When this fault occurs, dangerous voltages can appear across all metallic surfaces in a building or charging station, creating an invisible but deadly hazard.
The team set out to engineer a solution. The result was O-PEN®: a patented electronic system that detects these faults in real time and isolates the supply automatically, without requiring complex, costly earth electrode installations.
Today, matt:e's products are used by Charge Point Operators and electrical contractors across the UK. The company remains committed to British manufacturing and strong technical support.
